There are a number of points which deserve to be raised at the meeting.

(1) PROVISION OF INFORMATION:- To provide all Residents with full information as to Health Risks, details of Dioxins, Toxic Wastes, Increased Cancer Risks, Gases, Particulates, Odours, Bio aerosols, Noise, Dust, Toxic Fall-out,

(2) NO TOXIC INCINERATOR AT ALLERTON, PROTEST DAY  Look at how the Residents at www.rathcooleincinerator.org organized their Protest day.

(3) DISCOVER THE SOURCE, CONTENT, & QUANTITY, of the proposed Toxic waste, the proposed amounts of Toxic Chemicals, Toxic Pharmaceuticals, and Toxic Industrial Waste, that is proposed to be Imported from other area's of the County, and other Nearby Counties, and other area's of the UK, and shipped into Allerton, for Incineration and Toxic Emission into our local air.

(4) QUANTIFY EXTRA HGV HEAVY TRUCK MOVEMENTS, Discover the proposed Phenomenal Extra Increase in HGV Movements, in our Locality, 24 Hours a day, 7 days a week, night in night out, and the Detrimental effect that that would have upon our well being and environment. and the Damage and cost of the A168 and Local and connecting roads used by the Trucking Companies whom would be Hauling the Contaminated Waste to Allerton ( Local Taxpayers will have to pick up the bill to repair the Road Damage- as the Incinerator Company would not pay for their own Damage to the local roads).

(5) LAUNCH A  "NO TOXIC WASTE INCINERATOR AT ALLERTON QUARRY"  WEBSITE  (Similar to those at other Incinerator Objection Sites in York, Tockwith, Etc), In order that all residents are continually keep informed, and up to date with Objection Information, News, and Events.

(6) ARRANGE TO POST FULL DETAILS of :- Names, Addresses, Telephone Numbers, Email Addresses, of All Officials, Planning Officer's, Councillor's, MP's and others, both (North Yorkshire County Council, Harrogate Borough Council, and Local) whom are involved in the matter of the Proposed Incinerator & Plant at Allerton, via the new Objection Website upon the Internet, and by other means, such as round Robin Emails to all residents, in order that ALL surrounding Residents are aware of whom they are dealing with, so that they can each individually accurately write, phone, and visit those officials to voice their Objections.

(7) VISUAL GRAPHIC OF A 200 FOOT HIGH INCINERATOR CHIMNEY  Look at a Local Residents Incinerator Objection website at www.haltonbreathe.org.uk (where "The Halton Action Group against the Incinerator" - has shown a very graphic depiction "Before" & "After" pair of Photo's of their own area showing the Massive size & Impact of a 200 foot Incinerator Chimney & Plant Building would have upon their Community).

(8) LANSCAPE IMPACT  Upon:- CONEYTHORPE, CLARETON, ARKENDALE, FLAXBY, ALLERTON MAULEVER, HOPPERTON, GOLDSBOROUGH, WHIXLEY, LITTLE OUSEBURN, GREAT OUSEBURN, MARTON, GRAFTON, & other Nearby Communities, And to the millions of people going up and down the A1, If this Toxic Idea goes ahead, Imagine if you would, We shall be able to use the 200 Foot Toxic Waste Chimney as a " You Can't Miss us" Guide Post to Direct friends, family, visitors, (and the odd would be [what's that chimney? and, what's that smell?] house purchaser) to guide them to our Houses. We shall be able to tell all our visitors " We live just a short distant from that Massive Great Toxic Chimney", "You'll have no trouble finding us", "You will be able to smell & see us for Miles away".

(9) ENORMOUS SIZE OF THE TOXIC CHIMNEY  It is Extremely Important that all affected Residents are fully informed and aware of the Shear Massive Size of this 200 Foot Toxic Spewing Chimney that is Proposed to be built in the midst of where we all live, it is  ENORMOUS.......You all know York Minster......at it Highest Point (The Four Towers) it is 60 meters, that is, 200 Foot High, the same as this Monster Toxic Chimney ! ......and .....you can all see the Minster from Tens of miles away.....But at least The Minster does not Spew Toxic Fall-Out Stinking Fumes 24 Hours a day, Day after Day, 365 days a year, ( These Companies don't switch off these Incinerators....they cost too much time & money to re-start).

(10) SOARING INCREASE IN NOISE & LIGHT POLLUTION  There is without doubt, should this proposal proceed going to be an extraordinary loud & bright increase in the levels of both noise and light pollution, in what is currently a very quiet area at night,

(11) POLLUTION The Horrid effects of the Certain Pollution that would be caused by the construction and operation of a Toxic Plant and Incinerator and all the accompanying activity of this proposed Development in our midst, would Pollute all surrounding Arable Farm Land, Crops, Livestock, Gardens, Residential Dwelling Housing, Air, People, and most especially Children & the elderly, The Pollutants would be Toxic, numerous, many unknown, Dangerous to our Health and Well being, The Pollutants would be Accumulative in their Toxicity, and would pollute the surrounding soil within the area that we live in, for Years.

(12) BE A NIMBY  Nimby is Good, JUST SAY NO !  No Incinerator Here, No Incinerator at Allerton, Be a good NIMBY, Be an Active NIMBY, Form & Join an Active Residents Incinerator Objection Committee, Don't let County Hall shoe horn in this Incinerator at Allerton.........In-action and sleep-walking is no good, Take Note, that none of the People behind this Toxic Incinerator Proposal to locate a Massive Filthy Waste Spewing Chimney at Allerton, are suggesting an alternative site near their own back yards.

(13) ALTERNATIVE SITES  Well, that's a "No Brainer" is'nt it !  There are lots of alternative sites, most of them are were people don't live, (or at least not many people) such as, the North Yorkshire Moors  Simply is'nt it, you don't need a PHD to have worked that one out. and as the Planners at NY County Hall propose to import (To Allerton) by truck from else were the Toxic Waste to Incinerate, That same Toxic waste can be Just as easily sent to the middle of nowhere up on the Moors, there is lots of space and roads up there, I know, because I've been there. and the worst damage they'll do up there is give some sheep Cancer, Which Is much more preferable than giving us Humans Cancer, Don't you think ?

(14) CANCER  There is an increased Cancer Mortality Risk in the Toxic Fall-Out Zone of these Incinerator Chimney's, Confirmed on the Government DEFRA Website.

(15) NEGATIVE FINANCIAL EFFECT  It does'nt take a genius to work out that the financial effect of having a great big Filthy Waste Spewing Toxic 200 foot Chimney just a few yards (In the case of houses in Coneythorpe - just 1666 yards Distance from the Proposed Chimney Stack) is NOT going to have a positive effect upon property Values. Who is going to want to purchase Property in a Toxic Fall-Out Zone ?

(16) PROPOSED INCINERATOR SITE CONSTRUCTION PERIOD  This Proposal is a Massive Construction Undertaking, The Noise, Pollution, Traffic, and Intense Disruption to our Rural Community, with go on for some years, It will Damage our Environment Irreparably, Forever.

(17) WHAT CAN I  (YOU)  DO ?

      * Write an Objection, (Many Objections) By Letter, Email, Pony Express, ( To all Persons whom you think can help Block this Proposal)
      * Educate Yourself, on the subject. ( Don't wake up one morning breathing Toxic fumes , as you lay in bed )
      * Participate, Help form an Objection Committee, and be on it.
      * Help start and run an Objection Website.
      * Write to your MP
      * All Residents need to get Involved, to Stop this Toxic Madness, Right Now !
      * Contact the Green Party, The Friends of the Earth, & other Well Informed Organizations, for their advice and Help, and Direction.

(18) DIOXIN DANGER  For Lots of information upon the Danger of Dioxin's ( From Incinerators) Look upon the Internet, Also, see an Incinerator Group Website at www.glenavy.com for Video's and Information, and photo's.

(19) OWNER OF ALLERTON QUARRY  I am uncertain as to whom the Present owner of Allerton Quarry currently is. I have been trying to find out today, but so far, no luck, I seem to think it was ( and might still be) Edward Stourton of Hopperton, but I'm not sure, If anyone knows, then maybe we can approach the Problem from that Direction.

(20) ARIAL PHOTOGRAPH OF ALLERTON QUARRY & CONEYTHORPE You may have noticed that there is an attachment to this email. It show a Google Arial Photo of Coneythorpe and Allerton Quarry, along with the measurement tool showing tha measured distance between the two, as

Allerton Incinerator

Why it affects YOU

A few facts:
• This will be the most enormous structure you can imagine. It will have a chimney 200ft (60 metres) high - possibly higher. Although it will be built in a hole it will stand well above the trees.
• It will take waste from the whole of York and North Yorkshire (and possibly beyond). York have banned incineration within its boundaries some years ago, the Leader of York Council, Cllr Galloway announced to his Council!
• It will process 450,000 tons of waste a year which will mean 22500 lorry movements to the site and from it.
• It will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• It will be about a mile up the A168 from Allerton Castle.
• There is a choice of 3 sites – Dalton, Allerton and Burn Airfield but it looks as though Allerton is the favourite at the moment.
• It will be household waste – nobody really knows what goes into that!
• This has nothing to do with the Toxic Waste incinerator which is proposed for Tockwith – we could have 2 incinerators around us.
If we don’t do anything to stop this, we will be inviting it to happen.
How did we get here?
• North Yorkshire County Council has been obliged to find other ways of dealing with our waste rather than putting it in landfill.
• They were supposed to consult widely but an Inspector decided that there had not been enough consultation and the process was flawed.
• They continue to push for a solution to this and are opting for a single site to cover the whole of North Yorkkshire
Alternatives
• There are other ways
• More recycling
• Less packaging
• Smaller incinerators around the county – avoiding massive transport issues and keeping the waste closer to where it is produced. This is being adopted by some big cities
Our health?
• The prevailing wind is from the southwest so fumes will pass mostly over Marton-cum Grafton but when the wind changes it will hit Allerton, Whixley, Green Hammerton, the Ouseburns and beyond - all the way to York. Health will suffer and house prices will be blighted, look on the web at sites which show before and after incineration, deaths and illness rise radically.
• Some say “It must be safe, the government will look after us”. Thalidomide was classed as safe. We’re told that red wine & coffee and butter are safe one week and the next week they’re not. Who knows what these fumes will do to us in the long term? Once this is started it will be almost impossible to stop even if health problems are discovered.
• The fallout will land on our fields so it will be in our food and will affect our farmers’ businesses.
If we don’t do anything to stop this, we will be inviting it to happen.
Your Ainsty County Councillor John Savage is adamant & passionate that we should breathe fresh air throughout the ward and will fight this as he has fought the BCB application in Tockwith over the last few years with the assistance of the Tockwith Residents Association. If you wish to help his fight please email him on blacksheepstamps@btinternet.com with your support
Please attend the public meeting at Great Ouseburn Village Hall at 7.30 on April 8th

REF: Incinerator Chimney at Allerton Quarry
Hi there,
this is outrageous! We have to come together, act and stop this happening.
Why haven't Whixley Parish Council done anything? Why has it been left so late?
Come on everyone, lets pull together, get off our backsides and DO SOMETHING TO STOP THIS!
See you all at the meeting! Let's start making some noise!

REF: Huge Chimney at Allerton Quarry
Dear Whixley,
Energy from Waste? - Allerton is not a good site for making energy from waste because the process needs a massive amount of water. There isn't a large amount of water available nearby. This will make energy from waste unlikely which will greatly increase the environmental cost of the project.
I'll stand up and be counted. This is a great cause. See you all at the meeting.

Dear All,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I am flabbergasted we have not been told this information sooner!
Why haven't Whixley Parish Council done anything meaningful about this? What exactly have they being doing?

REF: IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RESIDENTS OF WHIXLEY AND SURROUNDING AREAS
Dear Friends,
I've been researching this today online following the flyer I received this morning. I have some more alarming news for you all.
There are 2 bidders for the contract to handle all North Yorkshire's waste and therefore the possible incinerator at Allerton. One is Skanska, the other is Amey. Both are very large BUT one of the controlling shareholders of Amey is Ferrovial, a Spanish company who also happen to be a controlling shareholder in BAA - the people who have made a complete mess of Heathrow airport and who have been told to sell Gatwick and Stanstead.
Not only that, according to todays' Sunday Telegraph (5 April 2009) BAA are in serious financial difficulties as are Ferrovial.
So, we have a choice between a Swedish company - Skanska - or a Spanish company with financial problems - Ferrovial. Terrific! So much for competition! Surely this is completely foolhardy.
I will do my best to attend meeting on Wednesday to show my support.
Regards,

REF: Hello
Dear Whixley.com,
I'm happy to help out if I can. I am getting old these days but can still get out and about, hand out flyers or make phone calls if you need me.

REF: HOUSE PRICES!
Dear Sirs,
This incinerator business is an awful. Not only will it be bad for our health and environment but I dread to think what it will do for the already depressed housing market. We're all having 000's wiped off the value of our homes in the area and building that bloody thing on our doorstep will just make things even worse. I've experience of this happening in a lovely village near Edinburgh and it sliced an average of £35,000 of every house in the immediate vicinity.
STOP THIS THING NOW. I will support your cause in any way I can.

REF: Think of the kids!
FAO The Whixley Website,
Please can everyone think of the kids in the area when making any decisions about this Incinerator at Allerton and the project at Tockwith?
There are now a lot of young families in the area and there are lots of young children growing up around here. Us adults need to act now and do whatever it takes to put a halt to these horendous plans. I too would like to know what the Parish Council have actually being doing? How long have they known? Answers please!
Concerned Mum of three!

Welcome to Ferrensby Village website.

This site is currently under construction, so please excuse the "bareness" of its current content.

Ferrensby is a small, quiet village located between Knaresborough, Boroughbridge, Farnham and Arkendale.

Because the village lies along  two bisecting roads ( A6055 and the road connecting  Arkendale and Farnham) it is spread out, making communication between adjacent parts of the village difficult.

This website hopes to overcome that difficulty by bringing together in one place items of interest to all members of the village, and acting as a general Notice Board for the benefit of everyone who lives in or visits the village.

If you are a Ferrensby local, then we need your input!

Please contact Tony Brown at Willow Green, Arkendale Road (340725, e-mail tony.brown1@btinternet.com) if you have anything that you wish to contribute.... eg History of the village, photographs (past and present),  current activities, groups or associations to which you belong and would like publicised.

In short, anything that you feel would help to make the site worthwhile.

The photographs below are courtesy of Kathryn Haw.
